The Himalayas have given me a lifetime of memories, friendships and lessons that no journey elsewhere could ever replace. The Himalayan Guides was born from a simple wish — to share the beauty of my homeland with the same warmth and care with which I have always known it.

To us, you are never just another traveller. Your trust means everything, and we take that responsibility personally. From the smallest detail to the highest mountain pass, we want you to feel safe, welcomed and genuinely cared for.

Six things that distinguish the way we work. None of them are luxury features. All of them are craft.

A guide-to-guest ratio of 1:8

Our maximum group size is 14 and 1:8 Guide Ratio, most of our journeys run at six or fewer. Every party has a lead guide, a support guide, and a kitchen team who know each other.

WFR-certified medical care

Every lead guide holds a current Wilderness First Responder certificate. Every high-camp journey carries a portable altitude chamber and pulse oximeter.

Eleven years in seven regions

Not eight regions. Not twelve. We know Khumbu, Annapurna, Manaslu, Dolpo, Mustang, Rolwaling and Kanchenjunga the way you know your neighbourhood.

Owned lodges & tea-house partnerships

Forty-two Tea house and Hotels we have partnered with since 2014. Your bed on night four in Deboche is not a booking — it is a friendship.

2 % Himalaya, every year

Two percent of every booking goes to conservation, education and porter-welfare programmes. Eleven years. No exceptions. Full accounts published.

Every inquiry is answered by a our Admins after a approval of our Guides. Usually within a working day.

How a small house became a smaller one

2005 — one lodge, four staff, a ledger book. Every year since, a decision not to grow faster than we could remember every guest's name. Below, the short version.

2005 Prashanna Founded The HImalayan Guides
2007 1% Himalaya founded. Every booking, every year.
2010 First expedition (Mera Peak) with a fully in-house rope team.
2017 Fifty-year archive of route notes digitised into our field guide.
2020 Pause. Rebuild. We keep every staff member on payroll through the closure.
2023 Second-generation guides — three sons and one daughter of founding porters — join.
2025 Twenty years. Eighty journeys a year. Still a house.
