From Syabrubesi a village-town located in the district of Rasuwa, the walk begins heading towards scenic Langtang Valley. The trail follows uphill and through enchanting woodland, after few days of walks then reaching a wide Langtang Valley. On leaving Langtang Valley, the route diverts with climb to Thulo Syabru village to reach Sing Gompa. Located on the midway routes to Gosainkunda, and Dhunche Town, the climb starts overlooking grand vista of Mid-West Himalayas.
As climb continues past Laurabinaya high ridge to reach Gosainkunda, situated on a basin, enclosed by rocky high cliffs. As well as with snow peaks towards north, a tranquil surroundings, where once a year. A religious festival is held, as per the Hindu Lunar calendar on the auspicious days of full moon.
Thousands of devotee and pilgrims visits for prayer, bathe and a dip in the icy lake water. The Hindu belief is it washes the sins of a hundreds lifetime, the festival is called Janai Purnima. Where Hindu men-folks changes their sacred threads for a new one and being blessed after a worship of Lord Shiva.

Then heading downhill back into enchanting forest to reach Dhunche Town for last overnight around Langtang Himal areas. After ending the walk at Dhunche an exciting drive brings you to hustle, bustle city life in Kathmandu. The best seasons for Langtang Valley & Gosainkunda Treks, are spring and autumn. Spring starts from March to May, most days are sunny but can get cloudy in the late afternoon. Chances of light snowfall with cold mornings and nighttime at above 3,000 m. Lovely times with wildflowers in seasonal bloom, especially the rhododendrons of various colors, en route Langtang Valley.
The next best season is autumn/fall, which begins in September and ends in November. One of the high seasons for views and pleasant walks, sunny days most of the time in autumn. But gets dark soon, due to short sunlight hours, cold morning, and late afternoon till nighttime. Could get snowfall from Langtang Village and at Kyanjin Gompa sometimes.
The route is straightforward with a signpost at each junction of the mid-ways, so there will be no confusion. The trails are nicely laid and good for walking all the way to Kyanjin Gompa. Includes steep uphill for short hour, and with gradual winding path through lovely forest. Crossing over exciting bridges and with long downhill, after reaching the highest overnight stops at Kyanjin Gompa.
The trail after Lama Hotel, Sing Gompa to Gosainkunda with climb and touch of high altitude. But, rest of the walks is on downhill to Dhunche Town at the end of trekking.
Day 01: Drive to Syabrubesi 1,470 m via Dhunche Town 1,900 – 06 hours.
Day 02: Trek to Lama Hotel 2,455 m-06 hrs.
Day 03: Trek to Langtang Village 3,425 m or Mundu 3,450 m-06 hrs.
Day 04: Trek to Kyanjin Gompa 3,870 m-04 hrs.
Day 05: Rest day for leisure scenic hike to viewpoints.
Day 06: Trek to Lama Hotel-06 hrs.
Day 07: Trek to Upper / Thulo Syabru village 2,118 m-06 hours walk.
Day 08: Trek to Sing Gompa / Chandanbari 3,254 m-05 hrs.
Day 09: Trek to Gosainkunda 4,381 m / 14,375 feet-06 hrs.
Day 10: Trek back to Sing Gompa-05 hrs.
Day 11: Trek downhill to Dhunche Town 1,950 m -05 hrs.
Day 12: Drive to Kathmandu afternoon free at leisure.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are prepared during the trek. The meals are basic, but will give you enough energy for your appetite. Fruit is also available after each meal.
During the trek, we stay in lodges or teahouses. These are simple in nature, but fully equipped. Do not expect too much luxury.
A moderate walk with some steep ups to reach Langtang Village, and then on pleasant gradual trail to Langtang Valley. The steep climb as options to viewpoints of Kyanjin-Ri or Tserko-Ri. Rest of the walk after Langtang Valley is mostly downhill all the way to Lama Hotel. Then a short steep climb to Sing Gompa with few gradual sections after Thulo Syabru village. The last hard climb is from Sing Gompa to Gosainkunda. Rest of the walk is downhill on return journey to Dhunche Town for last overnight stop.

All lodges on overnight stops, have electricity facilities either run by Hydro or solar power. Trekkers can charge their electronic items on paying extra for charging each gadgets. Some lodges offer free Wi-Fi and Internet services while few places might charge extra. But the connection in some places can be disturbing and takes time to run the service either in long distance call or using the internets.
Simply the best that one can expect around the mountainous and hilly region around Himalayas. The lodge facilities much better at Syabrubesi and Kyanjin Gompa. Most lodges provide common bathe and toilets with extra charge for using hot showers. However, the rooms are neat and cozy the dining have fireplace to warm the rooms while you enjoy the meals.
The foods depending upon the standard of the lodge, but most lodge restaurants provide long list of food menu. From Set menu or La Carte, including all types of refreshments to enjoy, as well some lodge provides fresh bakery products also. At Gosainkunda the lodge is simple and basic with limited food menu, due to it harsh climate condition.
Requires all trekkers to be suitably physically fit and in good health, to take the challenge walking steeps and downhill’s. When planning and booking this trip, one should need outdoor exercise from walking, jogging. Or any other good physical exercise for an hour on daily basis, and checking your health.
