As well as the road have extended to the other sides of Thorang-La at Mustang district. Making the trekking much shorter less than two weeks, but still the majestic views of snow mountains. The impressive cultures around Manang Valley remain the same as they have been for hundreds of centuries.
Adventure leads to dramatic bio-diversity from lower warm areas of Lamjung to cooler arctic terrains of upper Manang. The scenery changes along the daily walks, which makes the trekking enjoyable and fascinating to experience. Start with drives from Kathmandu to the warm farm town of Bhesishar and then heading up on a winding dirt trail. To reach Chame the headquarters town of Manang district, where the air gets much cooler, walk through a lovely forested trail.
Then entering, a wide scenic valley of Upper Manang, the walk follows from one lovely village to another cultural settlement. Have time for acclimatization in Manang to explore its scenic viewpoints and then towards Thorang-La Pass. The boundaries of Manang and Mustang district is a long and exciting climb but worth the glorious views. From the top of Thorang-La downhill to Mustang areas at the holy site of Muktinath.
The journey continues around the beautiful country of Kaligandaki River Valley past Jomsom and the lovely Marpha and Tukuche villages. To reach around warm areas in Tatopani village, and then with the last climb to Ghorepani and Poon Hill. A grand spot for views of the stunning sunrise over an array of snow peaks of the Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and Manaslu Himalayan ranges. Slowly, the walk finally ends on reaching Ulleri village for a drive to the beautiful tourist city of Pokhara.

The best seasons for Annapurna Circuit & Thorang-La Pass Treks, are spring and autumn. Spring starts from March to May, most days are sunny but can get cloudy in the late afternoon. Chances of light showers, with cold mornings and nighttime after Chame Town and Pisang village. But beautiful with wildflowers in seasonal bloom, especially rhododendrons of various colors, around the southern hills of Annapurna Himalayas.
The next best season is autumn/fall, which begins in September and ends in November. One of the high seasons for views and pleasant walks, sunny days most of the time in autumn. But gets dark soon, due to short sunlight hours, cold morning, and late afternoon till nighttime. Could get snowfall from Chame Town above 2,700 m onwards sometimes.
In the last few years, the trek has been shortened for a few days due to the construction of a motorable road. The motor road has reached as far as Manang village through Chame Town and at Muktinath to Tatopani village joining tourist city of Pokhara. Making the treks much easier to cover in less than two weeks.
The motorable road is quite rough on dirt, and mud tracks from Bhesishar onwards to Chame Town. Where walk takes you to a pleasant trail through lovely rhododendrons and pine forests to enter Manang Valley from Pisang village en route Manang and Thorang-La Pass. A steep climb to reach the top of Thorang-La Pass, a pleasant walk around Kaligandaki Valley in Mustang district. The last climb to Ghorepani and Poon Hill from the lovely village of Tatopani with hot spring.
Day 01: Drive to Bhesishar Town 760 m around Lamjung district-05 hrs.
Day 02: Drive to Chame 2,710 m -04 hrs.
Day 03: Trek to Pisang 3,115 m – 05 hrs.
Day 04: Trek to Manang 3,540 m- 04 hrs.
Day 05: Rest day in Manang for acclimatization and local excursion.
Day 06: Trek to Yak Kharka 4, 110 m – 04 hrs.
Day 07: Trek to High Camp 4,900 m -04 hrs.
Day 08: Trek to Muktinath 3, 800 m via Thorang la pass 5,416 m-06 hrs.
Day 09: Drive to Tatopani 1,200 m – 04 hrs.
Day 10: Trek to Ghorepani 2,880 m – 06 hrs.
Day 11: Hike to Poon Hill 3,210 m, trek to Ulleri village 2,050 m and drive to Pokhara 860 m -06 hrs.
Day 12: Drive or fly to Kathmandu-06 hours.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are prepared during the trek. The meals are basic, but will give you enough energy for your appetite. Fruit is also available after each meal.
During the trek, we stay in lodges or teahouses. These are simple in nature, but fully equipped. Do not expect too much luxury.
A moderate to adventurous with steep ups and downhills, one of the best and perfect walks around the Himalayas. Trekkers must be aware that Nepal and Himalayan landscapes are all ups and downhills. The only flat land is in the southern Terai belt of Nepal, walking slow and steady will overcome the difficulty.

All lodges on overnight stops, have electricity facilities either run by Hydro or solar power. Trekkers can charge their electronic items on paying extra for charging each gadgets. Some lodges offer free Wi-Fi and Internet services while few places might charge extra. But the connection in some places can be disturbing and takes time to run the service either in long distance call or using the internets.
Simply the best that one can expect around the mountainous and hilly region around Himalayas. The lodge facilities much better from Chame and around Manang Valley with options for attached bath and toilets. Most lodges provide common bathe and toilets with extra charge for using hot showers.
However, the rooms are neat and cozy the dining have fireplace to warm the rooms while you enjoy the meals. The foods depending upon the standard of the lodge, but most lodge restaurants provide long list of food menu. From Set menu or La Carte, including all types of refreshments to enjoy, as well some lodge provides fresh bakery products also. The only simple and basic accommodation is at High Camp due to the nature of the cold and high terrains.
Requires all trekkers to be suitably physically fit and in good health, to take the challenge walking steeps and downhills. When planning and booking this trip, one should need outdoor exercise from walking, jogging. Or any other good physical exercise for an hour on daily basis, and checking your health. All the regions of Annapurna Himalayas falls within ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Project) established in 1985 and was active from 1992. Trekkers have to obtain ACAP entrance ticket to enter all around Annapurna region. The checking and registration for ACAP, is done at major entry points on treks from Bhesishar, Tal or Chame and Jomsom town.
The main tribes of Annapurna Himalayas are Gurung, and Manang the hill tribe follows Tibetan Buddhism. Trekkers can witness that every houses adorned with a Buddhist prayer flags. The Gurung also follows an ancient cult of Bonpo a pre-Buddhism, and Shamanism. Worship of nature and mountain spirit.
Gurung are the main hill tribes of Annapurna and Lamjung Himal areas and around district of Gorkha also. Around Kaligandaki from Jomsom to Tatopani, populated by Thakali people follows Buddhist religion. At Ghorepani to Ulleri are Poon from Magar tribes interwoven to both Hindu and Buddhist religions.
